Tracker vs. Lowe Bass Boats?
I went to the boat show this weekend. Found a Lowe (fishing machine) deep-v 17ft bass boat that I thinking of purchasing. Before I was looking at the Tracker deep-v bass boat (Targa). I’ve got the factory specs on each boat and did a side by side comparison. Not much difference between the two. The Lowe people all said their boat was built stronger and had better real sale value. My question is, if you had to chose which one would you take?

Added note: The lake I’m going to use is famous for it’s rush hour chop and wakes created by VERY large boats during midday in the summer. Smooth ride out in the morning but your going to be lucky to make it back for lunch without a bruised kidney or chipped tooth.
This is Ed with Fays Marina BoatShop.com. We sold Tracker products for 17 years and switched to Lowe Boats. We’ve been really impressed. The Fishing Machine FM175 is constructed internally with extruded metal in more than just stringers, so where your eye cannot see, far better than Tracker bent sheet metal between stringers. But neither boat is going to break. The FM175 has large reverse chines on the outside to make flatter turns and dryier ride in rough chop. Two Really Big differences – the FM175 fishing floorspace, fore and aft, is significantly larger on Lowe FM175 than Tracker. (1) Tracker has “stuff” in the way to limit floorspace and (2) notice Tracker has been using a 3.5″ false overhang gunnel on each side of their boat to artificially publish greater width than common sense realizes. That was the first thing the Brunswick rep pointed out to us, and that really took hold. Side by side comparisons, we’ve did them before we changed to Lowe. Moreover, the Lowe is wider on the water, so more heavy 4-Stroke and Optimax support as well as greater stability. Further, the durable and beautiful Lowe paint process is two-part polyurthane, like they use on the Million-Mile Semi-Trucks, not just topside enamel on Tracker, because fishing is tough on paint. You’ll like the dual fuel feed for a kicker motor standard on Lowe, not Tracker. The Fishing Machine FM175 standard features are somewhere between the Tracker Targa and Tracker Pro Guide, so if even close, go with Lowe! You’ll even like the Motorguide W55 trolling motor over the Minn Kota PD55 as the W55 is removeable (std), wireless, footpad is easier to control, and much easier to deploy and retrieve. The helm is larger for the HDS-7 or 8 or 10 model graphs.
